تعتبر السلطات المصرية حركات حسم ولواء الثورة والعقاب الثوري أجنحة مسلحة لجماعة الإخوان، التي صنفتها مصر جماعة إرهابية في ديسمبر 2013. وحظرت المملكة المتحدة حسم ولواء الثورة في ديسمبر 2017، وصنفتهما الولايات المتحدة في يناير 2018 قائلة إن بعض قادتهما ارتبطوا سابقًا بالجماعة. وتنفي جماعة الإخوان أي صلة تنظيمية بهذه الحركات.
Egyptian authorities regard Hasm, Liwa al-Thawra and Revolutionary Punishment as armed wings of the Muslim Brotherhood, which Egypt designated a terrorist organisation in December 2013. The United Kingdom proscribed Hasm and Liwa al-Thawra in December 2017, and the United States designated both in January 2018, saying some of their leaders had previously been associated with the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood denies any organisational link to these groups.
